The feature film Jackie is shooting in and around western New Mexico, state Film Office Director Nick Maniatis announced Tuesday in a news release.

The film tells the story of Dutch twin sisters who travel to America looking for their long lost mother, played by Holly Hunter. Carice van Houten and Jelka van Houten are cast in the roles of the sisters, and Antoinette Beumer is the director, according to the news release.

The production will continue through December and will employ at least 70 New Mexico crew members and more than 150 principal and background talent, the news release said.

The news release said the film is produced by Hans de Weers, Reinout Oerlemans and Erwin Godschalk of Dutch company Eyeworks Film and Television Drama B.V.

A man who stalked actress Carice van Houten and bombarded her with e-mails, letters and tweets has been committed to a psychiatric hospital for one year by a court in Amsterdam.

The court was told the actress was so terrified by the stalking that she was afraid to leave her home. At the end of October last year, the 42-year-old man rang her doorbell, prompting her to ring the police emergency number.

The court rejected the public prosecution department’s demand for a psychiatric prison term, saying he had no previous convictions and had not been violent.

A man is on trial in Amsterdam for stalking Dutch actress Carice van Houten. Forty-two-year-old Johannes K. sent 800 e-mails to the actress’ manager. He also sent letters and tweets and threw condoms and shaving blades through her letterbox.

He even tried to apply for a marriage license at the city council offices in Groningen. The actress filed charges against the man in October after receiving long sexually explicit emails in which the man says he loves children and wants children with her. The man even came to her house, where she recognized him on security cameras from the pictures he sent by email. Her manager says he found her in “total shock” after she called the police. She says at one point she was even scared to leave the house.

The man denies stalking the actress. During the hearing he regularly interrupted the judge and seemed disturbed. Experts say the man is unsound of mind and has erotic delusions and is obsessed with Ms. Van Houten. The Public Prosecution has demanded forced admission to a psychiatric hospital. The defense asked for an acquittal saying he had not physically harmed the actress.

The man who has been on remand for a year has been admitted to psychiatric hospital before. He has also refused to take his medicine for five years.

Paula van der Oest’s Black Butterflies, based on the tragic life of South African poet Ingrid Jonker, won three Golden Galf awards including best feature film, at the 31th Dutch Film Festival in Utrecht, Netherlands.

Carice van Houten, who plays the highly complex title role, was judged best actress. This is Van Houten’s fifth Gold Calf, a record in the festival’s history.

According to the jury the “perfect mix of national and international expertise,” makes the film an “unparalleled experience”.

The Golden Calf for best editing also went to Black Butterflies, to editor Sander Vos.

A psychological terror film starring Clive Owen and Carice van Houten opened the San Sebastian festival on Friday.

They star in the out-of-competition “Intruders“, a tale of parents trying to protect their children from a monster, which won an ovation from the audience in this coastal city of northern Spain’s Basque Country.

“I wouldn’t really call it a horror film, it’s much deeper, more psychological,” Owen told a news conference.

“All the fear and trepidation, the danger in the movie, it’s within the characters, so it’s a pleasure acting in a role like this,” he told reporters.

“It was an ambitious thing to tie all the elements together and to bring them back on an emotional way. I was hugely excited by the possibilities and that’s why I have done it.”

Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo said he was helped by his own childhood fears.

“My mother told me family secrets that were a bit troubling, those secrets ended up becoming nightmares. I am very interested in the way parents transmit their fears to their children,” he said.

Intuders, directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, stars Clive Owen, Daniel Brühl, Carice Van Houten, Pilar López de Ayala, Ella Purnell, Izan Corchero, and Kerry Fox.

Details are still scant, but according to director Fresnadillo, “The film centers on the origin of the monsters that are born in childhood and are passed on by the family. Clive looks like a normal man, even heroic, who has a range that can take him to the dark side and allows him to travel the entire trajectory of the character.”
